Adhesion is the connection between two contacting surfaces of dissimilar bodies, resulting in their sticking to each other. This figure is determined by the intensity of intermolecular, molecular and chemical interactions at the interface. Adhesion forces occur at distances equal to a thickness of only a few molecules, which imposes certain requirements on the purity of the surface. Adhesion always deteriorates if the surface is covered with fatty matter.

 

Automatic shutter system prevents the reaction of glue inside of the glue jets, after the end of working process, with using tray with the special liquids. In case of a power failure or a pause in operation of the machine for more than 3 minutes, tray automatically moves to the nozzles to cover them.

 

Adhesive nozzles (glue nozzles) – are made of a special material that has no adhesion with glue. Special nozzles diameter, is calculated for a certain number of passes of the adhesive agent (polyurethane adhesives, EPI systems, etc.). Glue nozzles installed at the end of the adhesive tract in equipment with use of single component polyurethane adhesives, such as machines and lines for PVC sandwich panels production, SIP panels, equipment for the gluelam, laminated veneer lumber and multilayered parquet lamella.

 

Buffer tanks are part of pump station of machine for dosing, mixing and applying two-component polyurethane adhesive on the substrates. A and B components moves to the tanks from main reservoirs.  Also, into buffer tanks are placed dosing pumps, serving the exact amount of components to the static or dynamic mixing system.

 

Chipboard, also known as particle board, is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood chips, sawmill shavings, or even sawdust, and a synthetic resin or other suitable binder, which is pressed and extruded. Particleboard is a composite material.

 

CNC (Computer numerical control) is the system of automation of the machine, that is working according by precisely programmed commands encoded into digital storage. During control system equipped in KAM VAN CNC cutting machine.

 

Decorative film – PVC film, which used for enveloping in production of colourful window profile. Also used in production of decorative PVC sandwich panels for wood texture performing.

 

EPI (emulsion polymer isocyanate) adhesive systems - adhesives designed to use in the wood industry, which are classified as dispersion adhesives, however, have increased: strength, water resistance, heat in combination with the elasticity of the adhesive joint. Adhesives constitute a two-component system consisting of a water-based emulsion polymer and a crosslinking agent comprising a polymer-protected isocyanate. Dispersion resembles PVA dispersion: white, similar viscosity, but with an unlimited shelf life, non-toxic and fireproof. Hardener - polyisocyanate type of MDI, is the most secure of all series, as it is almost non-volatile and partially polymerized. EPI (EPI) adhesive system is used in the production cycle of laminated veneer lumber, gluelam beams, glued wooden structures, etc.

 

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid foam with a closed-cell foam. It is typically made of pre-expanded polystyrene beads. EPS is used for building insulation and for SIP sandwich panel production. Also expanded polystyrene used for packing material for mitigation fragile items inside boxes.

 

Extruded Polystyrene Foam (XPS) is a synthetic insulation material. Extruded polystyrene foam has a wide scope of application: insulation of foundations and plinths, stucco facade, roofing, etc.

 

Feeding system provides the capture and passage of the substrates at a predetermined speed under the glue applicator. This system is installed in KAM adhesive application equipment, woodworking machines, flatlamination lines, etc.

 

Flat Lamination is a process of adhesive applying on the substrates surface with further applying of decorative foil or other materials in the production of laminated sandwich panels PVC

 

Fiber - is a fibrous material which is made using a special impregnating material. The main component is the production of fiber paper impregnated with a special chemical composition of zinc chloride or calcium thiocyanate with sulfuric acid. Feature of fiber in its insulating properties. It is advantageously used as electrical insulation material and, in some cases, it is used as the cushioning layer and as a substitute for leather. Fiber also widespread in the production of cleaning kitchen sponges. Material could be processed: stamping, molding, painting and varnishing.

 

Fiberboard is a type of building material that is made out of wood fibers. Types of fiberboard include particle board (chipboard), medium-density fiberboard, and hardboard. Sometimes fiberboard is used as a synonym for chipboard, but chipboard usually refers to low-density fiberboard.

 

Foam board (flexible/elastic polyurethane foam board) - is soft polyurethane foam, consists 90% of air. Used as soft, support and insulation material. Despite the fact that the production of foam is considered environmentally hazardous and harmful, the finished product does not affect to human health. Due to the fact that the flexible polyurethane foam production cycle includes toxic components when exposed to moisture and air are decomposed into harmless components.

 

Glulam (Gluelam), profiled beam, laminated veneer lumber – is made of coniferous wood, predominantly spruce and pine, cedar. In North America and Japan, glulam also made of cedar and Douglas fir. Constructions that are made from northern wood have the highest strength class. Due to the fact that during the manufacturing process used lamellas which are cleared from defective places, glulam beam has more superior quality class than solid wood.

 

Hardener (solidificator) – the substance that is added to the adhesive polyurethane mix providing the conversion from liquid form to solid.

 

 

HPL panels produced by pressing certain layers of paper that differs in chemical composition. The inner layer is kraft-paper, top layer – a decorative and protective coating that is applied as an overlay (very strong film on the basis of melamine resin).

 

Magnesium Oxide Sheet (Magnesium Oxide Wallboard) is a modern sheet construction and decoration material on basis of magnesium binder. Magnesium oxide sheet consist of caustic magnesite, magnesium chloride, expanded pearlite and fiberglass as the reinforce material.

 

Magnesite Board, MgO board (magnesium oxide board) - a modern sheet construction and decoration material made on the basis of magnesia binder. It consists of: caustic magnesite, magnesium chloride, expanded perlite and glass fiber as a reinforcing material.

 

Medium density fiberboard (MDF) – recycled vegetable fiber and is the building material. Types of MDF: Particleboard (chipboard), medium density fiberboard and hardboard. MDF sometimes used as a synonym for particleboard, chipboard but generally refers to low-density fiberboard.

 

Nozzle (track) applying – a method of glue applying with start-stop system using jets to put the materials on the substrate with thin tracks. The jets are made of P.T.F.E. that is non-adhesive. The distance between the tracks is 5-10mm. During the materials pressing the adhesive tracks uniformly distributes over the whole surface providing the great adhesion. This type of glue spreading is used in continuous and discontinuous type lines and is capable for single and two-component polyurethanes glues, melamine urea formaldehyde adhesives, and emulsion polymer isocyanides.

 

OSB plate (Oriented Strand Board) composed of wood chips, has a multilayer structure (3-4 or more layers). Chips of the outer OSB plates has longitudinal orientation in internal - transverse. Used in the manufacture of OSB sandwich panels.

 

PVC sandwich panel is a panel consisting of at insulation sheet and two PVC sheet. These panels mostly used in the window industry and for thermal insulation of various constructions.

 

Primer is a substance on basis of solvent with minor percentage quantity addition of glue. Primer is used for adhesive properties of bonding materials. KAM Flat lamination machinery equipped with priming stations designed for improvement of the adhesive bond.

 

Pneumatic press is a device that operates with using of pneumocylinders. Pneumatic press has next advantages: simple construction, lower cost, higher reliability. This kind of presses used in production of sandwich panels.

 

Polymerization - a chemical reaction of formation of high-molecular compounds by sequential addition of monomer molecules to the growing macromolecules chain. Stage of the polymerization proceeds, initiation, chain propagation, chain termination. Polymerization is a chain process, it is based on the addition reaction

 

Polyurethane Adhesive - adhesive system consisting of organic and inorganic substances, which is designed for the connection (bonding) substrates through the formation of strong adhesive joint between the adhesive and substrates. Polyurethane adhesive bonds different types of materials: wood, textile, metal, plastic and EPS. Physical state polyurethane adhesive can be solid (powders, pellets, granulated), liquid (solutions, emulsions) and pasty. Polyurethane adhesive systems could be one-component and two-component. For best results, before bonding is sometimes necessary to get the surface ready with some specialized treatment.

 

Polyurethane reactive adhesives (PUR Hot-melt adhesives) are solid blocks or granules. This adhesive is applied with special equipment that is equipped with melting station. Hot melt adhesives are based on ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), polyamide (PA), polyolefin (PO) and polyurethane (PU). Hot melt adhesives have good liquidity, chemical resistance, strong cohesive and adhesive features, affects no risk to human health.

 

PVC sheet (PVC foam sheet) - made ​​of polyvinyl chloride, dyes and various fillers. PVC sheet has a several advantages: light weight, stiffness, ease of processing, fire protection. The material is widely used in the building industry.

 

Roller shafts adhesive spreading – layer glue applying method using coating and dosing rollers (shafts) (could be coated with heat and temperature resistant silicone and providing the heating up to 140 degrees by Celsius to apply PUR reactive hot melt polyurethane glues). The amount of adhesive is controlled by varying the temperature and the distance between the rollers. This method could be used for single component reactive hot-melt polyurethane glues, two component polyurethane liquid glues with hardeners. The thickness of the adhesive layer depends on the distance between applying and metering rollers, feeding speed of the line, down force of the pressing shaft and viscosity of the adhesive system.  Roller adhesive applying is used in equipment for laminating the flat surfaces: windows production, chipboards laminated panels, decorative films, composite materials, laminated panels, kitchen cleaning sponges.

 

Solvent is a substance which dissolves a solute, resulting in a solution. Usually a solvent is a liquid but it also can be a gas or a solid. The maximum quantity of solute which can dissolve in a specific volume of solvent depends of temperature.

 

Sandwich panel - a three-layer structure consisting of special filler with insulating properties, both sides covered with protective layers (sheets). Sandwich panels can be of the following types: PVC sandwich panel - PVС + XPS (extruded polystyrene) + PVС; OSB sandwich panel - OSB + EPS (foam) + OSB; Magnesite sandwich panel - MgO + EPS + MgO.

 

SIP (Structure insulation panel) – made of OSB or magnesium oxide wallboard. Structure insulation panels are used in construction of low-rise prefabricated houses and buildings.

 

Single component adhesive system consists of polyester compounds and hardeners that are mixed together at a pre-production process. Adhesive cures by reaction with air or with glued substrates. In case of the moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive for achieving the result the water spraying is quite enough. Polymerization occurs in average 60-90 minutes, it is quite a good indicator in comparison with two-component polyurethane adhesive. Full polymerization occurs over 24-48 hours, depending on temperature conditions in the facility.

 

Two-component polyurethane adhesive composition includes polyester compounds and hardeners, but they are mixed right before the production process. Curing of the adhesive joint occurs in about 30-40 minutes, so the work with such adhesive systems requires professional equipment. Full polymerization occurs in 24-48 hours. The advantage of a two-component PU adhesive system is that it is not affected by moisture, as solidification occurs with hardener. Thus, two-component glue is better to use than single component working with waterproof surfaces such as metal sheets, glass. Also, two-component polyurethane adhesives are used in the production cycle of OSB, SIP, PVC magnesite sandwich panels.
